Dimitris Christides was born in Khartoum (Sudan) in 1980. His style of drumming mixes the percussive elements of Balkan and Middle Eastern rhythms with the subtle and creative sensibility of jazz. Dimitris studied popular music at the London College of Music. At the age of 18, he settled in England where he continued to study the instrument with various important musicians such as Tony Williams, Elvin Jones, Wayne Shorter, John Stanier (Helmet), and Danny Carey (tool). During this time he received lessons from Paul Elliot, Pete Zeldman, Spyros Panagiotopoulos and Jojo Mayer. In 2002, Dimitris moved to Berlin and since then has been balancing his career as a professional musician in numerous projects and drum teacher. Since March 2015 he is the program director of Zig Zag Jazz Club in Berlin.
