Igor Spallati studied at the Jazzinstitut Berlin with Greg Cohen and John Hollenbeck. In 2011 he was the first winner of the Savoy Award of Excellence. He worked during this period with Mike Richmond, Dado Moroni, Pietro Tonolo, Gabriele Mirabassi, Fred Hersch, Joe Chambers, among others, and performed at various jazz festivals such as Jazz Baltica and Umbria Jazz. Since the late 2000s he has worked in the Nickhead formation, with Simon Kanzler and with Anna Webber, among others. As a horn player he participated in the album Labyrinth (2013) of the Italian rock band Fleshgod Apocalypse. He is a member of the Rosen Quintett (with Benedikt Joch, Edith Steyer, Kay Lübke and Nikolaus Neuser); he has also played with Clara Haberkamp, Fuasi Abdul Khaliq, Markus Ehrlich's Flexible Eingreiftruppe, Florian Menzel and Uri Gincel/Moritz Baumgärtner and Volker Schlott, among others.
